There are three tests that are performed prior to and after filling the cartridges and that is assuming your make/model is one that can be refilled… some can’t. The first test is an electrical test to insure the contacts are working. The second is a vacuum test. After filling, they run a print test. No, compatibles and/or refilled cartridges will not ruin your printer. Ink is ink and that’s all that is put into the cartridge. If your cartridge has been empty for awhile, don’t bother. Refills are good once or twice but don’t keep bringing them back to refill. Eventually you should get new ones.
You might see some variation in print color balance, color saturation, or quality, but the warnings the printer manufacturers put on their devices are there to scare you into buying their expensive ink. Unless you have a really high-end expensive printer, I wouldn’t worry about it.
refills wont ruin your printer…..the worst that can happen is the colors are off…..i got 2 refilled at wallgreens a couple of months ago and when i installed them it said no toner……stuff came out funky looking, but i used it anyway……if your doing important documents or something like that i would just by the cartridges that your manufacture is selling……wallgreens is hit and miss…thats the experience Ive had using them………..scott
Most of them will work (though usually not as good as new) and the one time it doesnt work it *may* damage your printer and this would not be covered by warranty. Read http://ccs-digital.com/refills.html for more info. Or just browse through the messages here and see how many people are complaining that the refills they bought either didnt work or leaked all over their printer. Cartridges are deliberately designed to not be refilled. If you want to save money, buy NEW compatible cartridges. I have been using new compatibles for about 10 years from http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp
