Question by Brickstser64: Build template error msg when trying to remove Lexmark printer?
Help, anyone. How can I fix this? It won’t let me uninstall Lexmark printer.

Answer by bljzzgrl
1. Try installing the drivers again, sometimes this works.
2. Which of the Lexmark printers is this (there may be manual removal instructions on Lexmark’s website).
3. Is the printer still attached to the PC? If so and it will not let you re-install the drivers. Try unplugging the printer. Removing the drivers in the device manager. Rebooting and now un-installing the drivers.

The only pros are it will occasionally print and scan and copy. Usually this is after turning it on and off several times because the power quits, sometimes in the middle of a print job.
The fax has never worked correctly.
I am on my second model (5650). I took the first back thinking I had a lemon, but the 2nd wouldn’t even cut on - out of the box. I call tech support (Lexmark does have very good support) and was instructed to use a pencil eraser on the power adapter (which worked, but this was a new machine!) I was instructed to unplug, pick up and shake my first model! LOL
Note: I have a five year old Lexmark copy/scan/fax machine which still works well to send faxes. The printer part quit when it was about 2 years old. I have a very inexpensive Lexmark printer in my house which has never given me a problem. Point: Lexmark does have good products, but the X5650 model is NOT one of them. Stay away.

I will admit, I have not used the fax option on this machine but I have gone through a couple of ink cartridges with all the printing and copying I have done. I have also done dozens of scans with it and I have not had a single problem with it. The print quality is great, the included software is very easy to use, and the ink costs are reasonable. For the price (got it for about $50 on sale), I think this is a great machine and I am very happy with it. Beats my older HP all in one hands down. The only thing that I don’t like about it is the paper feed. I do prefer a bottom fed machine as my printer sits on the top of a cabinet, making it more difficult to load, especially when working with envelops. But for the ease of use in other areas, this is a very minor thing to me.

I guess I’m one of the more fortunate people who purchased a Lexmark X5650 printer, because it works just fine for me. The unit was very easy to install & prints perfectly well, with no serious examples of the difficulties described by other reviewers. It is a shade noisy & the black ink ran out pretty quickly, but I can easily ignore the very minor rattling sounds the X5650 makes & I just upgraded to the high-yield black ink cartridge, which, in the long run, is a much better bargain than the standard #36 replacement. The paper feeder has given me no problems, either. The few times I’ve used the scanner so far have gone like clockwork. On top of all that, the Lexmark X5650 is available at a very good price.
If you get what you pay for, then I got an excellent bargain with the X5650.
I would recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this printer and it does a good job for me. I like the fack it easily connects to the front of any computer with a USB Port. It makes it easy to use with several computers in diferent locations if needed.
Lets get to the ink cartridges. It comes with standard cartridges, 36 black and 37 color. NOTE: These are NOT refillable and it will not let you use all of the ink in the cartridge. You must return the 3/4 empty cartridges to Lemark for refilling. They give you a $5.00 credit towards a replacement.
Well, I use a lot of black ink… If you want to use refillable cartridges you can with this model. You must purchase the 36A Black and 37A Color Cartridges. Notice the A after the number. I personally order mine from Amazon because they were cheaper than Walmart. I paid more at Walmart for an extra 36 Cartridge than Amazon charged for the 36A refillable cartridge.
The reason I did not give this printer a 5 in the rating is even though you can use refillable cartridges. Once you install a refilled cartridge, You keep getting a lot of stupid promts about how your warranty will be void if you use anything but Lexmark Ink.
All in all, I am happy with my purchase at the moment. I have been using it for a month now.

This is a great all-in-one if you happen to get one with a working paper feed. However, since this is a PRINTER, it should PRINT, right? Well, it does, and it does it well, but ONLY until the paper feed breaks. I’m on my second machine, as the first one started mangling paper a few months after we purchased it. Lexmark honored the warranty and we exchanged it for a new one, which worked for a while. And now, the second one has begun mangling the paper, jamming, and then telling me it is “out of paper”. What good is a printer that doesn’t print reliably? Not much.
