Question by Gene: how do you reset a lexmark x3430 printer cartridge that has been refilled?
MY lexmark printer says it is out of ink and will not do anything, On my HP printer there is a trick to tell it it is a new cartridge. is there one for the lexmark x3430
I have already refilled it but it still wont print.

There is no such trick for that particular printer. Just look for fading, that is the time you want to replace or refill the cartridge.

Having always been a fan of HP, I was a bit hesitant when I purchased my first Lexmark printer, but their products came highly recommended and I took the plunge. Needless to say I’ve been extremely happy with the quailty and ease of use of both my printers (the first is 6 years young and counting - without a single glitch) and the accessories. I always purchase the high yield ink cartridges for my printers due to the amount of work the machines receive and they are worth every penny. Saving money and the longer life of the refills are important factors, so the combination of high yield and multiple cartridge packages when available, makes for a truly top-notch buy. You won’t be unhappy with anything Lexmark. BTW, thanks again to Amazon for always offering superlative pricing and service!!

The “yield” for the standard cartridge @ $5.00 says 500 pages. The yield claim for the high yield says 3X or three times the standard and states the savings is better.

I see that it is rated at 33 ppm mono and I got no where near that speed - maybe 7 ppm on a spreadsheet. And it went through cartridges like candy. I got a whole 77 pages out of one cartridge (lower yield - but that is ridiculous) printing a B&W word document and fewer than that on a 100XL black cartridge. The color cartridges were only used to print 2 pages to align the cartridges and then they were empty. We installed all the cartridges when we got it. The printer was a great price but the cartridges would break me. Lexmark tech support was no help and didn’t seem to think that 77 pages on a cartridge was unusual. This went back!!!

I only purchased my Lexmark Prospect Pro 205 All In One Inkjet Printer from Amazon in Jan/2010. It came with 4 XL inkjet cartridges, which Iam still using now in May/2010. So, I have not replaced any inkjet cartridges for this printer as of yet, but I did buy this XL black inkjet cartridge just in case. I didn’t want to run the risk of running out of black ink when I had a printing job.
I do keep a pretty close watch on my ink status. Iam using more black ink than colored. I like that Lexmark allows you to control how much ink you use. I have my printer set on the Quick Print Setting, which seems to be working out fine for text, and the occasional picture that is included with the text. I would not use that setting if I wanted to print a regular photo.
So, Iam saving on ink using my printer in that way too. You will use more ink if you set your printer on the other settings, so be aware of that. I had to send in a bunch of paperwork, and still did it in the Quick Print Setting. The person I needed to send the paperwork too actually thought what I gave her were the originals, which they were not, so the print quality is pretty good, even on the lower setting.
I do like that you have the option of buying either regular inkjet cartridges or buying them in the XL version, which is what I intend to do. It definitely seems to be more cost effective to buy them in XL than regular.
I also like that you can send them back to Lexmark, which if you go to Lexmark’s website you can request up to 5 prepaid envelopes to mail the used inkjet cartridges back to them, which I have already received the envelopes.
They will send you one free if you send them back five I think it is. You should go to [...] to doublecheck that, but they do keep track of the inkjet cartridges you do send back. Good for you, and good for the environment too!!
I have had Epson inkjet printers for years, but didn’t like how they held up. I did like that I was able to buy compatible ink tho, which as of yet you can not do with this Lexmark All In One Printer.
I was using one black inkjet cartridge about every 2 months, and only needed to replace the colored ones about every 3 months or so. Like my Epson printer, this Lexmark one allows you to replace only the inkjet cartridge that has run out.
I did not want another printer that had the colored cartridges as an all in one. I only wanted to replace the ink that had run out. I can do that with this Lexmark All In One printer.
So, in sumnmary Iam pleased with this Lexmark XL Black Inkjet Cartridge. It is alittle expensive, but when you weigh that with the fact that you won’t need to replace ink as often, plus if you send back your used inkjet cartridges back to Lexmark to get a free product, I think the benefits are worth it.

After going through several higher priced printer and inks, I bought a Lexmark. The ink is as good as the printer.
